Active Cheshire CEO shortlisted for prestigious accolade

Anne Boyd, the CEO of award winning charity Active Cheshire, has been shortlisted from more than 950 nominations for the Northern Power Woman award in the Transformation Leader category.

As a well-known leader with experience throughout the North West Region, Anne will be attending the prestigious awards ceremony on 6th March in Manchester.

Anne has forged a successful career, with over 20 years of experience spanning public, private and voluntary sectors, having held leadership positions within Sport England, Northwest Regional Development Agency  and Local Government as well as her own award-winning social enterprise, whilst single handedly raising three children.

During her 5 year history at Active Cheshire , Anne has transformed the charity,  rebranding and repositioning it as lead body for physical activity in the subregion . Her drive has resulted in an additional 71,000 people getting more active,  a 40% increase in turnover and the support of more than 300 local partners behind the new Blueprint to tackle inactivity locally. Recognised by the Prime Minister in 2014, the charity is heralded a trailblazer nationally and has recently been rated outstanding, securing it an unprecedented 3 year funding award from Sport England.

Anne also donates her spare time to the British Red Cross as Vice-President and to the West Cheshire Poverty Truth Commission. She has recently been appointed onto Cheshire & Warrington LEP overview and Scrutiny Committee.

In 2017 Active Cheshire celebrated the contributions of more than 150 local women, in encouraging others to get active and lead healthy lifestyles .

On her journey with Active Cheshire, Anne has already picked up  prestigious awards and accolades, as her passion and success was recognised in 2015 when she received Winner of North West Business Woman of the Year award. She was also selected as one of just 20 UK leaders to participate in a prestigious global leaders programme .
