About the Trainer

Our new AEO course trainer retired from HMRC in July 2016 after 43 years’ service mostly in Customs work. Since then he has taken up an external Customs training role writing and delivering Customs training and speaking at trade events.

Since 2001 he was an International Trade Development Liaison Officer (ITDLO) with HMRC working closely with UK Customs Policy teams and the wider business community helping to deliver a number of new developments in Customs international trade work such as AEO and UCC.

Our trainer was also a Customs trainer with HMRC and was fully involved in compiling training material, assessment papers and delivering courses across the full range of Customs work and across all parts of the United Kingdom.

What is A.E.O?

Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) is an accreditation issued by HMRC to Importers, Exporters, Customs Agents and others involved in the international supply chain. AEO Status recognizes that the business is compliant in its customs activities and can be trusted to operate simplified customs procedures and duty relief schemes. It has become much more relevant with the changes introduced by the Union Customs Code (UCC) in 2016 and the vote to leave the EU. It is anticipated that Customs will offer greater simplifications to AEO status holders in order to mitigate the potential effects on border checks and Customs requirements post Brexit.

You will learn about the requirements for achieving AEO status both in Customs Compliance and Supply Chain Security and the potential implications of not holding AEO status and how this may affect your business.

The course will cover the full benefits of holding AEO status, the application process and the interaction with other trading nations who operate similar schemes under the Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA).

This AEO training course will suit anyone involved in importing and exporting goods.
